The best way to start off a new month is brand new hair and where best to go than my favourite hair salon, @m_salons! I’ve been going here for about a year now and they honestly smash it every single time. January was a long long month and I needed a little pick-me-up and as I’ve stated many times over on my instagram, @m_salon is my happy place. I am very indecisive when it comes to my hair colour, the minute it’s brown I want it blonde and when it’s blonde I want it brown, I just cannot decide! They do it so perfectly every single time so it’s no wonder I can’t choose! Here’s a little before and after, amazing work right?!

A new month means new shoes! As it’s the month of love I thought I’d be festive and choose some red heels, they’re super cute, and very valentines! I often look on pinterest for some inspiration on the types of shoe content I want to create so below I’m going to show you the photo I saw on pinterest (the pink heels) and then my inspired version in red!

I absolutely love red heels with blue jeans, I think the contrast between the two colours really compliment each other and make the colours really pop! I used my DSLR camera for these images, I wanted to be a bit creative so I played around with the angles to create a range of different shots, I think they turned out pretty well!

Last week I was very kindly invited to a cute little tucked away salon called @hideaway_retreat which is based upstairs in the amazing @m_salons in Bishops Stortford.

I was gifted a reflexology treatment as it’s something I’ve always heard about but never really knew what it was or what it does so I thought it would be an interesting post as  I had hundreds of questions regarding the treatment so I thought I’d see what the fuss was about.

What is Reflexology?

So in simple terms, reflexology (also know as zone therapy) is a type of massage where your therapist applies different amounts of pressure to your feet, so basically like a foot massage.

Why do you get it?

So basically my understanding of it is that each part of the foot relates to a different organ in your body and by massaging the feet releases toxins out of your body leaving you feeling full of energy and less stressed. People who practice reflexology believe that stress and illness can be caused by blockages of energy and you can encourage healing by releasing tension from the body by doing this.

I really didn’t know what to expect, I was thinking to myself, is it going to hurt? Will I uncontrollably laugh? Will I enjoy it? Will I get bored with an hour of someone massaging my feet? Will it be awkward? Honestly, all these thoughts flooded my brain but I can honestly tell you, it was absolutely amazing. In fact, I would 100% recommend it to everyone, of all ages. I really couldn’t see myself enjoying it, mainly because I’d never heard about it or knew anyone who recommended it so out of all treatments it probably would have been the last one I’d have chosen. But now I’ve experienced it, and have noticed the health benefits I can totally see the beauty of this treatment. As I mentioned before, each part of the foot relates to a different organ of the body, I asked her to explain to me what she could read from my feet and she said that I was a little anxious, advised me to distress and take it easy, take some time out for myself and to try to relax which having reflexology was a brilliant start to this. She also mentioned to take some vitamin D in the form of a spray which I later on purchased from Holland and Barrat, and you just spray it into the mouth daily for the extra vitamin D fix.

What are the benefits of Vitamin D?

  • Keeps your bones and teeth strong
  • Boosts your immune system
  • Reduces inflammation and pain
  • Builds stronger muscles
  • Improves energy and mood

What are the benefits of Reflexology?

  • Helps to relax you
  • Increases blood circulation
  • Eliminates toxins from the body
  • Boosts metabolism and energy
  • Reduces headaches

Would you recommend it?

Absolutely. Hideaway retreat is the perfect place for your treatment, it’s a cosy little tucked away salon which is the ideal place for you to relax and indulge in your treatments. The staff are so professional, friendly, well-groomed and make you feel like you matter as soon as you enter!

I was recommend the Clinique take the day off cleansing balm and although I’m enjoying using it and I’ll use it till it’s finished, I probably wouldn’t repurchase because I just wasn’t obsessed with it. It has quite a high price point of £25 for 125ml which is quite reasonable however if I was going to spend that much on a cleanser which has actual no real benefit for my skin (as it’s rinsed off) then I’d personally choose cheaper alternatives. Overall the product is actually really lovely, it delivers what it promises of ‘taking the day off’ and it doesn’t leave a greasy film on the skin which is a huge plus. However I’m not keen on a jarred product, I much prefer a cleanser with a pump feature so I can distribute the product more evenly and take it in the shower with me. I find the jar quite unpractical for shower use as water often gets inside the jar and then it grosses me out a bit haha! It’s rated number 2 top cleansing product on the influenster app and has an amazing 4.7/5 rating so it’s obviously loved by a lot of people. I would still be open to trying more products from Clinique but unfortunately this one didn’t wow me.

Tan Eraser, about a year ago I reviewed literally one tan after another as when my favourite tan got discontinued I was on the hunt to find another so it meant I was always left with old patchy tan which as you can imagine isn’t a good look, especially as I’m constantly taking photos. I put a hold on trying out tans because I just couldn’t get them off quick enough, that’s until I found ‘tan eraser’. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve tried possibly every tan erasing product which is usually in a liquid form, even gone as far as using dishwasher tablets and baby oil, but nothing truly works! When I saw this product claiming to remove old fake tan, genuinely, it looked too good to be true, the advertising videos were the thing that made me buy the product because the ease of this tan coming off just looked miraculous. And I can in-fact back up it’s claims that it truly does work, and probably is the only thing I’ve tried that does what it says. Now weirdly, you don’t use ANY liquid on your skin other than hot water as using products actually act as a barrier between you and whatever tan erasing product you’re using which therefore causes it to be useless. I stand under the shower between 2-5 minutes then I begin using the mit in circular motions wherever the tan needs to come off, and it literally crumbles away, it’s magical! You don’t even need to put lots of pressure on your skin, the glove does all the hard work, effortless and pain-free. Definitely recommend. BUY HERE

Another product I wasn’t a huge fan of were the new ‘Beautygloss’ Eyelure lashes, they were really uncomfortable when they were applied, they didn’t blend in seamlessly into your lash line and they kept peeling off at the edges, if I was ever to recommend any lashes from Eylure I’d personally go for the 117 or 141, they’re my go-to lashes!

I try to go to the cinema at least once per month as for me as I gain so much inspiration from watching films, I studied film at A level and I really enjoyed it. Being a photographer also, I really appreciate the cinematography and the way things are filmed, it always inspires my shoots and the styling often encourages me to step outside my comfort zone and experiment with new looks. Superheroe isn’t a typical genre of film I choose however, I loved Suicide Squad, mainly because of Margot Robbie who plays a character ‘Harley Quinn’ and this film was all based around her character so I thought it was definitely a must-see. I absolutely love her character and her style is one of the main reasons why I enjoyed the film so much, full of colour, fun and playfulness and definitely a strong contender for Halloween this year! I would say it’s quite a feel-good girls night out film and worth the watch for sure!

You’ve probably definitely seen my love for the restaurant, Bunga Bunga as I visit their venue quite regularly because they are such a fun, interactive dining restaurant which you’ll be guaranteed to have the best time there! I think it’s a perfect place for special occasions and definitely groups, most places nowadays get a bit funny with group bookings but this place deffo welcomes it and it definitely adds to the atmosphere. I took my sister for her birthday and they ended up dragging us both on stage for a dance off with another table and they made us dress up in builders outfits and it was literally hilarious! The food, drink and atmosphere is brilliant and you’ll honestly have the funniest night out, at the end of all the performances and acts, they get a dj and then the restaurant turns into a dance floor. I definitely recommend going here if you need something fun, interactive and far from the usual dining experience.

Last week I was kindly made a very generously sized cake by @_webake with the initial of my name, it wasn’t even my birthday but there’s always an excuse for cake, especially ones as pretty as this. It looks good but it tastes even better, the cake lasted us about 4 days, everyone who came over it was an excuse for a cuppa and a slice of cake. I’m so impressed with the design of the cake, I’ve not seen this idea before and I think he executed it to perfection, the delivery and transportation of the cake was also very smooth, you’d think by the time it did a long journey it would be a mess on arrival, but not one piece was out of place. Also the man behind the brand, Luke, was super friendly, extremely professional and he delivered us not only a gorgeous cake but a great-tasting one too. He should be proud of such a creation especially being quite new to the cake industry, I would definitely recommend him for your special occasions.
